McCall 2011 Winter Carnival

I have been in Boise for a total of 5 months tomorrow!

And there is something pathetic I must admit to.
I have never been to McCall.

I was mildly extremely embarrassed when an old co-worker from Utah asked me:

Old Co-Worker: "What fun things have you done in Idaho??"
Me: "uhhh...I...well...hmm...let's see..."

Old Co-Worker: "You have been to McCall, right?"
Me: "uhhh...I...well...hmm...let's see..."

TIME TO CHANGE MY MCCALL INEXPERIENCE!

I'm not positive, but I have heard rumors that this is the BEST time to visit McCall.

The 46th Annual Winter Carnival is going on until February 6th.

Here are the events I am most excited about this weekend:

FRIDAY, January 28, 2011
5-10 pm: Beer Garden (I don't know what this all entails...but do the details really matter?)
7 pm: Fireworks over the Lake (I sure hope I don't free my patootie off!)
SATURDAY, January 29, 2011
Noon – 1:30pm: Mardi Gras Parade along with all the events after...including live music!
2-4:30pm: Polar Plunge Fundraiser(Don't you go thinking I am participating.  I will cheer those brave 'folk on though!)

Don't forget that there are awesome ice sculptures outside the whole time for the public to view faaareee! (that's FREE in my Valley Girl accent.  Give me a break I grew up in California).
There is SO much more going on up there that I hope I can get Mr. Boise Bug to take me too.

Have you ever been to the Winter Carnival?
What are you favorite events and memories?
What else do I need to go too?

Hope to see you in McCall this weekend!

Eyes of the World Imports

Eyes of the World Imports is a charming and eccentric little shop in downtown Boise.  I went there yesterday and wish I could have spent much more time looking at all the exotic gifts from around the world!

They have such a wide variety of fascinating items! Clothes, decor, jewelry, bags, shoes, spiritual items and my favorite, a whole Bob Marley section!

When you enter the store you are immediately introduced by the smell of incense and a warm smile from one of the ultra friendly staff. I have never been to an Eastern country, but I imagined that this store would be much like a local corner shop in India....along with the prices that are easy on the pocket book.

Look at this adorable bracelet I found for an aforementioned seriously ridiculous price. (I think I need to take a seriously ridiculous new picture.  Sometimes I put too much confidence in my SmartPhone.)

I didnt have time to look at everything, so you betcha' I will be back there soon.
Hope to see you there!

2011 Golden Globes

Can I admit something?

Ok, good!

I forgot to watch the Golden Globes on Sunday.  GASP!
ooww, oh well.
I was eating yummy tri-tip.

But you bet your bottom I looked at all the red carpet pics.

Sometimes I agree with the "best" and "worst" lists and sometimes I don't!

Best Dressed List--I disagree!

Scarlett Johansson in Elie Saab
Who doesn't think this woman is drop dead gorgeous?  Anyone?  Didn't think so!
Oops...the hair!
Oops...the dress does absolutely nothing for her cleavage.  Nothing.

Worst Dressed List--I disagree!

Leighton Meester in Burberry

Call me crazy, but I LOVE this look.  I think she did everything right.  She looks stunning and happy and confident.  I don't care if some people think it looks a little sister wives-ey.  I'd wear it.
And I would put me on the best dressed list because of it.  Take it.

Now, because I know you are just dying to see my own little list...I will apease you.

Best Dressed Male: Gerard Butler in Dolce & Gabbana
Sharp. Sharp. Handsome. Clean. Handsome.

Best Dressed Couple: Mark Wahlberg in Giorgio Armani & wife Rhea Durham
A couple set up by the gods.

Worst Dressed: Julianne Hough in Marchesa
I tired hard to like this.  I really truly did. Cross my heart.

Best Dressed: Kyra Sedgwick in Emilio Pucci
It isn't only the dress.  It's the woman in the dress.

Babe City "Boise" Babes

I stumbled on a website called Babe City Babes that has pictures of regular hot "babes" on the streets of NYC.  The two girls that run this website met in college and became the best of friends when they decided to walk around taking pictures of men (or babes as they want to call them) who have "style, charisma, and a sort of irresistible magnetism" and post them on their website!
Not only do they have pictures of hot babes on their website, they are super funny too.

Of course, this would ONLY appeal to you...ahem...single ladies (says the very not single boise bug).

They welcome submissions by anyone who would like to send them in.
They even have a sign up to have pictures emailed to you...

I don't know how many Boise men have been featured on this website, but I would love for them to be bombarded by all the submissions we (you) could send!  We (you) could call it...Babe City Boise Babes.  Hot damn, I am just too creative sometimes.

Here is a sample of one of their "featured babes"

See.  Totally candid from the street.  I am convinced we have plenty of these types in Boise.
Dont'cha love the lipstick kiss mark?

Anyway...go here if you're interested.  Which I'm you are.  I know you.

Sunday Bugday #2

First, let me say I am so sorry for not posting anything all week.  I got that stupid bug going around Boise (no pun intended).

I hope you and your family are still feeling well and don't get sick!  Drink lots and lots of fluids...and use Zicam, it's a miracle worker!

Sunday Bugday #2 - Ugly Women Tattoos

Let me clarify.  I am not against tattoos.  I would have one or two myself if I knew what I actually wanted to put on my body for the rest of all time.  In my opinion choosing a tattoo should take time and careful consideration.  When I see these aforementioned ugly tattoos my skin cringes.

Let me show you:

Beautiful women.  Hot guy.  Expensive dress.  Golden Globes.  What doesn't belong here?  Oh, yeah...that uber ugly arm band. Your eye goes RIGHT to it when it should really go to her gorgeous face.

I guess she is a true fan...but there should be a more classy way of showing your loyalty.

What's the reason?  None.

I know tattoos can be deeply personal.  But, why get something so...weird??

The lesson here...get a tattoo.  But please for all that is holy, don't get an ugly tattoo.

Here's a great local tattoo shops if you are thinking of gettin some ink.

Sunday Bugday #1

Guess what Sunday is here at Boise Bug?
It's SUNDAY BUGDAY!

We count all of our blessings during the week & discuss what we love, but I think we are allowed ONE day to just vent about what bugs us. Right? Just one day!

Cheers to our first ever Sunday Bugday.

#1: Gym Memberships

Especially during the first of the year, it seems like gyms hike up their prices to take advantage of the plump who make new year's resolutions. One of us here at Boise Bug went to a gym with a 14 day pass sent to them in the mail to check it out. Ya know, to see if he wanted to join. Instead of this unnamed gym welcoming him with open arms hoping he would enjoy his experience, they sat him down for a hard-core sales pitch. They didn't want him to use the 14 day pass he received in the mail until he signed a contract. A 18 month contract!

What a let down. Instead of possibly earning some business in this tough economy-they lost it!

Now, I don't want to dismiss the extreme amount of money it costs to run a gym. But certainly it can't be a good business model to charge $50 a month and only allow your customers to come 4 days a week of YOUR choosing. There is NO way I am going to pay that amount of money to have someone tell me WHEN and WHERE I can work out--and be pushy about it to boot. No sir-ry.

So, guess what I am going to do? I am going to find a local gym/work out class that are in the business to help ME meet MY goals. Isn't that what it should all be about?

In a recent boiseweekly.com article found HERE they promote a local yoga joint called Sumits Yoga. I suggest you read the article and then go to Sumits Yoga website: http://sumitsyoga.com

Sumits Yoga is giving us a 2 week trial for $20 to promote their January Yoga Challenge!
I am going to do it. Pray for me. Think of me. Wish me well. Do it with me!

Skirts

I love skirts.
Nothing makes me feel more feminine than a skirt.
I wear them with flats.
I wear them with heels.
I wear them with tights.
I wear them with leggings.
I wear them with a belt.

They are comfortable and either dressy or casual.
(Not too short please. There is such a thing.)

Know what else I love? Online deals! Here is a sample combo of two of my loves:

Here are a few things we love and ask that you continue to wear/eat/sleep/listen in the new year. That is...if you want. But, we are on our knees here Boise!

Simple T's
Guess what we have most in our closet? Ok, shoes yes. But what else? Simple white and black tops that we use as our wardrobe foundation. It is incredibly versatile. We wear them with jeans or a pencil skirt. It goes with literally everything. We love Old Navy's with the hit of glam on the pocket (and especially with that price)

Natural(ish) Hair
Ok, gals (and guys...if you're into this sorta thing) we are loving the natural hair styles and coloring going on in 2010. A little highlight here a lowlight there. Keep up the good work (and save some serious cash by not having to go to your stylist every 4 weeks)!

Ingrid Michaelson
She came to Boise back in October and we just fell in love with her. If you haven't listened to her music download her album immediately then send her an email begging her to come back to Boise ASAP! Go to Ingridmichaelson.com

Flats
Even during the winter months with snow on the ground, it is hard to give up our flats. You can't wear heels every day! Unless you're Sarah Jessica Parker of course. Choose flats that are comfortable. Just 'cuz they are flat doesn't mean they can't hurt your toesies.
We found this awesome flats HERE
